In my search for new creative endeavours, I discovered I can guide people through the thrills and fears of learning a new language. Learn to talk confidently about things you are passionate about. I read and write for a living after having studied English in the UK at postgraduate level. Getting lost in word-thesaurus paths for the strongest expression in English is not unbeknownst to me. As a speaker of many foreign languages and former teacher of English, I came to consider vocabulary building and confidence in oral communication to be of paramount importance. We can work on these together starting at any level you find yourself. The easiest way to learn English is through reading, translation exercises into your mother tongue, and oral communication. I will give you precious advice on how to further improve your English beyond our appointments.

I am a professional author of short stories and novels! I can help you learn to write and speak with a little more flair, or go through the technical specifics of English if you're looking to improve your grammar. I come from Colorado, USA, and I'm ready to help! The easiest way to learn English is to speak English, and to write English. In class we will converse in English, talk about tricky grammar and do verbal exercises - though natural conversation is the most fun and the best way to learn! I will also encourage you to write something each week, so you can see how things are different on the page. We can adapt your needs to suit you, and your own reasons for learning English!

Hello! I am a native English speaker from South Africa and I have achieved a 120 hour TESOL certificate. I have been living in Copenhagen for 13 years and I love living here! I also love helping people, from giving directions and advice to speaking English. I am currently volunteering as an English teacher to adults, and it gives me great satisfaction knowing that I am able to help my students master the language I was born with. I also have experience teaching English to children, so if your child is needing a boost in his/her English grades, I would love the opportunity to try and help them. I am a very happy, kind and patient teacher, and people say that they like my neutral, clear accent. I really like to include my students' interests when preparing a lesson for them. As a teacher, I like to focus on pronunciation and correct major grammar mistakes. I love meeting new people and learning about where they have come from. I have a lot of questions, so you will get a lot of speaking practice with me. I would love to meet YOU!

There is no better way to learn a language than constantly speaking and writing to a native speaker. I speak English and Cantonese at a bilingual proficiency level, plus Danish at B2 level. As a language enthusiast, I have been learning two new languages (Danish and Spanish) in the past couple of years, and I find it intriguing to be able to communicate with worldwide citizens. I believe in active and creative learning, which means it does not have to be restricted to seemingly boring classroom materials. Instead of reading a story and picking up new words, watching a video can also be a way of expanding your glossary - and will probably stay longer in your head too! I have been a private tutor for over 4 years, teaching English and sometimes Chinese to elementary school kids and high school students. I also have some experience delivering language classes at youth centers and education institutions. It is an amazing feeling to be able to teach a language I know very well, and to take away the dull parts of language learning for English learners:)

I've studied at a teaching program, in Copenhagen . I do speak fluent Danish, as well. Well, fluent for a Danish second language user. I'm 48 married with an 11 year old, so there could sometimes be limitations on when I can meet. Learning English doesn't have to be difficult or boring. It can be as fun as you want to make it. I think the easiest way to use any language is simply through interaction. I know that's how I was able to learn Danish! Find a topic to talk about, and go for it! As for the time it takes, I suppose that depends on how much you immerse yourself in the language. Thankfully, English is everywhere even in Denmark. Watch more shows in English with or without the subtitles. If you're interested in computer games, see if some games can have the English language spoken in your headphones, as well as written on the screen. Look up the lyrics to your favourite American or British songs so you can be more certain as to what's being said. It's ok to have the translation for your language to connect to it better. Have fun with the language and find your own interests to incorporate English into your daily life so it seems less like work.

I am an architect on the base, but due to this situation we all facing I need a new orientation for myself. I was studying intensive English in school, and improving it afterwards in life. An easy way to learn a language is to have a young teacher which has a lot of patience with you. Audio and video materials are also a good instrument. About the time you need to learn a language depends of the level you want to achieve in the language, if you want just the basic, easy conversation than should be really easy and fast to learn. But all the good things takes time. So if you want to be a professional it will take some time. Can’t wait to meet you!

As a medical professional transitioning into language education, I offer a unique, high-precision approach to learning English. My journey began in primary school and evolved through years of medical study, practice, and teaching—all conducted in English. Having authored scientific papers and delivered international presentations, I understand the importance of clarity, tone, and professional etiquette. I view language through a "diagnostic" lens: identifying your specific hurdles and creating a tailored "treatment plan" for your fluency. Whether you need to master complex grammar, refine your pronunciation, or navigate the cultural nuances of professional environments, I provide a patient and disciplined space for growth. My background allows me to simplify dense information into digestible lessons, much like I did when mentoring medical students. I am dedicated to helping you move from being a student of English to a confident practitioner, ensuring you are equipped for any global setting.

I’m an American who has been living in Denmark for 18 years, so I am fairly fluent in Danish. I moved to Denmark at age 32, so I speak English as my mother tongue. I’ve had some years of experience teaching English both as a tutor and through teacher training as an English teaching student. I believe in tailoring my teaching to the individual. For example, I’ve taught a 7-year-old boy the basics using cards with images and making it fun. I’ve also taught a grown-up who had a decent grasp of the English language just by conversing with her to help her strengthen her language skills. I love trying to find ways to make the learning process enjoyable.

English is one of the most widely spoken languages in the world, it is also used as a second language by millions of people around the globe. English has been used as an international language since the 17th century.
The English Language is recognised as the official language in about 67 different countries. Additionally, more than 27 non-sovereign entities regularly use English as an administrative or conversational language. It is the official language of many world institutions like NATO, the European Union and the United Nations. Close to a third of the world's population (some 2 billion people) now use English, giving it the position of a global lingua franca.
With TUTOROO you may now learn English with a private English teacher in the following locations:
The English Language is regarded as one of the most difficult languages to learn for non-native English speakers. Its grammatical rules are often broken, spelling and pronunciation irregularities can even confuse native speakers. With the help of a private English teacher, you can overcome the difficulties of the English language and achieve full English language fluency. Improve your English skills now with an English tutor.
As a non-native English speaker, many higher education schools or universities where English is the standard language of teaching will require you to take an English proficiency test. This test is proof of your English language ability and ensures you have the necessary oral, aural and writing skills to complete your course. Don't let a language barrier stop you from achieving your dreams. Hire a private English language teacher to help you prepare for your English proficiency test.
The two most common tests are the TOEFL or IELTS:
TOEFL (The Test of English as a Foreign Language) is the most common English proficiency test. There are two formats for writing TOEFL and you can choose your preferred format: an internet-based test or a paper-delivered test. The sections in the test include listening comprehension, written expression, reading comprehension and speaking. The test takes about 3 hours to complete and the result is valid for two years. Most universities require that you score between 90 to 100 (B2). However, some universities may require that you attain a minimum score in each section while meeting the B2 proficiency requirement.
IELTS (The International English Language Testing System) is another widely recognised English proficiency test. The test has two versions which are the academic version and the general training version. Most employers and universities worldwide accept the academic version, while the general training version is accepted by government institutions and used for immigration.
The first 3 sections of the IELTS - listening, reading and writing - lasts 2 hours 40 mins. The last component is a speaking test done in the presence of an examiner. IELTS scores range between 1 and 9 with universities requiring a minimum of 6 or 7. The minimum score is equivalent to C1 and B2 proficiency levels. You can get your IELTS results 13 days after the test and the result is valid for two years.
Although not as common as IELTS or TOEFL, CAE (Cambridge Certificate of Advanced English) and CPE (Cambridge Certificate of Proficiency in English) are often an admission requirement for UK universities. Usually, only people at an advanced English level can take CAE and CPE. They are in-depth, high-level qualifications that demonstrate an English proficiency level of C1 - 7 to 8 in IELTS or 110 to 120 in TOEFL. You can take CAE and CPE either on your computer or in person. Like the other tests, the CAE and CPE tests reading, writing, listening and speaking. The speaking section of the test will be done with another candidate to test fluency in face-to-face situations. Unlike TOEFL and IELTS, CAE and CPE certificates don't expire. The highest grade is an A and the lowest score in CAE and CPE is C, with most universities requiring a minimum of B for admission.
TUTOROO works with many English tutors who are available and specialised in training for some of these tests. By browsing our English private tutor profiles, you will be able to find tutors who specialise in test preparation for English proficiency tests. You are also able to contact the tutor directly with any queries and choose the private English tutor that best fits your needs.
TUTOROO only hires tutors that get the work done. By this, we mean that learners and students pass their English proficiency test after being coached by a TUTOROO private tutor.
This must be our most popular question! With the help of a teacher and with private English lessons, learning English is much easier, quicker and more enjoyable.
