Fifteen years ago, while giving a course in creative writing, a Dutch language trainer asked me if I wanted to teach Dutch to a few expats. I said yes without really knowing what I was getting into, but things went well and I liked it. At the time I mainly wrote drama series for Dutch and German television. That was a nice job, but gradually I began to write less and teach more. I liked teaching so much that I went back to university to become a certified NT2 (Dutch as 2nd language) teacher. Ever since, I train and teach expats as well as refugees, both with much pleasure. Apart from all the regular subjects, I constantly pay attention to proper and correct pronunciation. Plus, I gladly look into specific problems related to someone's first language ( the "R" for Chinese students, the "H" for many Eastern Europeans).
