Zdravo! My name is Katherine - I moved to Serbia from Canada in January 2024 and have loved living here ever since! I am a TEFL-certified English teacher that can offer both online and in-person classes for professionals and adult students looking to improve their English-speaking confidence and one-on-one conversation skills alongside a native speaker. I have a background in linguistics and can help improve your pronunciation and word choice to sound more native naturally to prepare for job interviews and presentations with confidence, introduce colloquial and cultural nuances from the English-speaking world. Spoken English is extraordinarily different than written, "grammatically correct" English, even in formal settings, which makes the language especially difficult to learn without the support of a native speaker to point out key differences. I therefore emphasize the importance of verbal fluency over written grammar in my lessons, and have many strategies to help immersion so that consistant language practice is never boring and becomes effortlessly habitual in your everyday interactions. Memorizing a language and learning a language are not the same thing - my priority is always to help you learn, not just absorb enough to pass a fluency exam.
