I am a Chinese living in Hong Kong and have been a Chinese language teacher in a Secondary school for forty years. The education I received gave me the best understanding of language and culture. As I have taught Chinese Language, Literature, and Culture in Secondary school for forty years, I have a great understanding of the learning of Chinese Language as well. It is really useful in experience because students learning Chinese or Cantonese nowadays always meet and face language and cultural difficulties at the same time. In learning Cantonese, students also wish to understand more about local Culture, which is useful for them to work and live in Hong Kong or nearby China. I admit that learning Cantonese is not easy, but the effectiveness of learning is two-way; a good teacher can make the learning process enjoyable and fruitful for both parties. In the learning process of reading, writing, listening, and speaking, talented students also need guidance from mentors. Everyone has their own unique learning ability because of their mother's culture and educational background. Therefore, the process of learning languages is at the same time the process of discovering yourself and giving full exercise to your strengths.
