Hi there! I am Iris, a language enthusiast from Hong Kong. I was born and raised here, and have lived in Shanghai and Taipei. I'm fluent in Cantonese, Mandarin, English and Japanese. I teach Cantonese part-time, working with children and adult learners from all over the world. I am also a HSK trainer with TCSOL certified. Is Cantonese easy to learn?
Cantonese is not easy for Western learners, to be frank. With nine tones for each word, it can be challenging at first. However, once you master the tones, the biggest hurdle is overcome! The good news is that Cantonese grammar and tenses are simpler than many Western languages. With practice and my guidance, you'll develop a keen ear for the tones and gain confidence.
