(Online learning + adult learners) (Non-MOE syllabus) I am a full-time teaching professional offering written and spoken Malay or English lessons. I am a native Malay language speaker and also certified to teach English to speakers of other languages, or TESOL by the London Teacher Training College. You can start from any level of competency as lesson plans are designed to meet your needs, including conversational and advanced levels of speaking and reading skills. Your lessons will incorporate real-world examples and practical applications and we will find a comfortable and optimal learning pace for you. To enhance the language lessons, we will engage in conversations to learn or improve pronunciation, enunciation, intonation, inflection, and vocabulary. For example, I can speak conversational Mandarin today because I interacted with people who conversed with me in that language. In 2018, I volunteered to teach English in Madrid, Spain, to a group of young men and women at Vaughan Town because of my passion for languages, learning cultures, and making connections with people. In the last 10 years, I have had the pleasure of teaching students from Japan, Hong Kong, China, Russia, Morocco, Kazakhstan, Myanmar, Spain, Thailand, Vietnam, as well as working adults and tertiary students here in Singapore. I instruct in an online student-teacher setting via video conferencing. Tele-teaching offers scheduling flexibility that I am happy to connect with students around the world who are able to attend classes during a UTC +8 or Singapore time-friendly sessions. I find that video conferencing learning is especially useful if you are an individual who is looking to develop conversational language skills before travelling. Please write me and I look forward to speaking with you about your learning needs.

Born and raised in Malaysia, I have been speaking Malay regularly for more than 27 years. I would prefer to structure my teaching around direct communication a lot, so we would be visiting places together and speak Malay in our interactions. A little about my background, I was an academic scholar back in Malaysia, and my Malay language was graded the highest level of proficiency in Malaysia Public Examination called SPM. Besides that, I was also a member in a Malay debate team during high school.

I have been tutoring Bahasa Melayu for the past 8 years since 2020. I tutor young children as young as 6 years to 15 years of age and have committed to several students for a few years. These students of mine come from different backgrounds - so whether you are Chinese, Indian, Eurasian, or not from here, you are welcome to come look for me if you want to brush up on you/or your child's Malay language. As a Singaporean who went through the MOE Syllabus in Singapore, I know what it is like for students to prepare for Malay tests/exams. Normally, I prepare assessment books and create my own interactive games for children (especially those below 12years) to better engage them in Bahasa Melayu. I create games using a website where they get to read English-Malay translations and get tested on their understanding. These games include, grammer tests, expressions, "peribahasa" (idioms) and simple phrases that are part of the school's syllabus so they remain relevant and still engaging to them. As a tutor, I make sure that they can remember, understand, and use them in their daily speaking or writing. During sessions, I keep things light and not so intense (unless the parents say otherwise! ). Aside from tutoring, I am an MOE Certified Malay instructor (Intermediate). I have taught in a classroom setting in several schools where I introduced non-Malay students to basic language skills. This ensures that they are more familiar with phrases and words that explain Malay customs in a social setting. The things I teach them has made them more confident in speaking basic Malay in everyday interactions regardless of where they come from. Whether they are meeting someone who speaks Malay, are Malaysian in their day-to-day speaking, or simply visiting our neighbouring countries, Malaysia/Indonesia as a start, they can learn the language quickly and with ease.
