¡Hola! I became a Spanish teacher because I have a passion for educating and communicating to others not only the language, but also the Hispanic American culture. I am certified by the Instituto Cervantes to teach Spanish to foreigners. I have been teaching for more than 10 years around the world. I speak Spanish (native), English and now I am learning French, which allows me to have a closer communication with my students. I am passionate about languages, I dedicate part of my free time to perfect my teaching methods and to offer the best possible experience to my students. For me it is important to personalize the classes, so that they are helpful in achieving your goals. Spanish course in Madrid near you

Teacher joined in May, 2022

*ONLINE LESSONS ONLY* My name is Marta. I was born and raised in Valladolid. I studied for a Bachelor’s in Spanish Language and Literature and a Master’s in Spanish teaching at the University of Valladolid, Spain. Recently, I completed my studies with a Cognitive Grammar course from The Instituto Cervantes. Since November 2018, I have been giving online Spanish classes to English speakers. I usually prepare original class materials. I have conducted one-to-one and group classes. My strengths are: ● correcting pronunciation and grammar mistakes, ● showing a high level of imagination, spontaneity, or capacity for improvisation when the need arises, ● engaging students to ensure a lively classroom atmosphere, ● motivating students to work outside class (homework, listening, readings, etc.), ● monitoring the student’s progress, ● a reliable Internet connection, ● classes on Zoom. Do you want to get off to a good start and become successful in learning Spanish? Have you gotten stuck on the intermediate level? Do you suffer paralysis by analysis when you try to speak Spanish? Would you like to communicate effectively? You don't have to waste time memorizing more grammar rules and filling in blanks in an exercise book. I can help you master the main Spanish grammar structures through clear, concise explanations and thrilling practice. First, I will check your Spanish level to find your strengths and weaknesses in the Spanish language. Then, I will send you a report about the necessary improvements. My goal was to take an adaptive teaching approach by assessing the individual student's needs and creating an effective lesson plan while ensuring proper grammar and pronunciation during each session. My classes are dynamic, challenging, and stimulating. After a brief explanation of grammar, we will do oral exercises. So, you improve your understanding and become fluent in oral reproduction.

I have been teaching adults and children in face-to-face classes. Online classes are also available for children, teenagers, and adults. I also taught to adults groups when I was living in France. My methodology is based on inductive teaching of grammar where the students need to "guess" the grammar points, from the example to the grammar explanations. the rules are not given to learn them by heart but by practicing and understanding the use and the meaning. I speak English, French and Italian. I have 6 Cervantes certifications such as DELE A1, A2, B1, B2 teacher, advanced grammar, children and teenagers teaching. In Summer only online classes.

Improve your Spanish with private lessons

Teacher joined in Aug, 2021

Hello everyone, I am Adrian and I am from Spain. Currently, I am living in Toronto and I love teaching. I have spent 6 years teaching different subjects in private lessons such as Spanish, English, Biology, History, Maths, Chemist and so on. So, I could say that I have experience teaching. Furthermore, I studied for a bachelor's degree in English Literature and Linguistics and a master's degree in English Applied Linguistics. Besides, during these courses, I had some subjects where I learned how to teach and different methodologies to make classes funnier and dynamic. Secondly, I was a volunteer for one year in a school where my job was to help children (from 6 to 12 years old) to do their homework in different subjects. Thirdly, I got some certificates throughout these years while I was finishing my bachelor's and master's degrees. - 120 Hour TESOL/TEFL certificate education. - The Bilingual teaching of English in the different educational stages of education. - Powerful tools for teaching and learning digital storytelling education. - Social and communication skills in the exercise of the teacher's function education. - Volunteering with minors in social difficulty education. - Englis Language Immersion Course. Besides, I would like to explain how the Spanish language may be difficult and easy to learn. On the one hand, in the beginning, it could be hard to learn any language, however, Spanish grammar can be difficult due to is very rich and flexible. But studying and getting help every day you will achieve a great level. On the other hand, the easiest way to learn it is to try to speak and practice with a native speaker in order to improve pronunciation, speaking, and listening. Hope you achieve your goal of learning Spanish and I can help you as much as possible. Regards, Adrian.

I have been teaching Spanish and French in a secondary school in Dublin for the last 16 years and have given grinds in both subjects throughout this time. I taught Spanish at the primary level for 3 years under the MLPSI pilot project introduced by the government. I have taught Spanish, French, and English as a Foreign Language to adults in night class programs for 3 years. For the last 16 years, I have taught Spanish and French to all year groups at the secondary level (1st-6th) at both Ordinary and Higher levels preparing students for both the Junior Cycle and the Leaving Certificate. During all of this time, I have also given grinds in both languages and at all levels aforementioned, including at the university level. Private Spanish teacher in Madrid

Teacher joined in Jul, 2024

Hi, my name is Elena. I am from Spain and I live in Madrid. I have lived and worked in both the USA and the UK, so I speak English. I also speak French at an intermediate level. I have been teaching English and Spanish for 11 years. I have a 150-hour TESOL (Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages) certificate from Arizona State University. I teach students of various ages and needs. When teaching school-age students, from preschool to college, I focus on their current school curriculum, including grammar, listening, writing, and speaking, and I prepare them for their Cambridge exams. I don’t want them to get bored repeating what they did at school, so we draw mind maps, practice learning both online and with pencil and paper games, do drawings, and listen to songs. For adult learners, I prioritize speaking skills, as speaking also involves active listening. We talk about past experiences to use past tenses, or future plans to use future tenses. I also help them with business English, as I have worked in different sectors before becoming a teacher, such as consulting, banking, and the pharmaceutical sector. Additionally, I assign essay writing to reinforce their writing and grammar skills or grammar exercises if that is what they need to improve. Of course, I adapt to my students’ needs, level, or reasons for studying this beautiful language, such as for traveling or working. Apart from teaching, I enjoy painting, walking my dog, cooking, and sports like horseback riding. I can’t wait to meet you. How easy is it to learn Spanish? We all have a gift, but not everybody has the gift or talent for languages. Learning Spanish or any other language is easier if, for instance, you are already bilingual because your brain is differently wired; it is denser. If not, practice will make you perfect and, answering the next question... What is the easiest way to learn Spanish? Being motivated, consistent, and optimistic will help you achieve your goals. Is Spanish easy to learn? Spanish is, of course, easier if you already speak a language that comes from Latin. But yes Spanish is easier than French or German. Is it difficult to learn Spanish? Spanish has a phonetic spelling which makes it easier, but it has some grammatical difficulties, like the future perfect or the verbs ser and estar. How much time does it take to learn Spanish? Not everybody learns the same way, has the same patience, or practices as much. If you want to learn a language, you have to do more than just take classes and learn grammar; you have to read, watch movies, etc. The fastest way is immersion. I learned English in less than six months.

Spanish FAQs

What are the Benefits of Learning Spanish with a Private Tutor?

Learning with a private tutor means you get to learn at your own pace, ask questions whenever you choose and get undivided attention. If you join a group class, you may experience Spanish lessons that are either too slow or go too fast for you.

Here are some top benefits of learning Spanish with a private tutor:

Customized Spanish classes

It's true that people have different learning techniques and styles which are in accordance with their learning skills. Although we all have a blend of learning styles, there is a primary style of learning.

For instance, traditional Spanish classes may focus too much on your vocabulary and quizzes. However, if you're not so good with quizzes, you may get the impression that Spanish is difficult or you'll never get to be fluent in it.

When you take lessons with a private Spanish tutor, you can discuss your preferred learning style with your tutor. Also, your tutor will use the best method of explaining difficult topics to you. Private tutoring helps you to be comfortable while learning and not be put under pressure from being with other students.

It offers better results

One benefit of having a private Spanish tutor is that it allows you to concentrate, offering better results. According to studies, where you take classes can determine how much you'd learn. Also, once you have a particular place where you learn, you can be 100% focused and retain more information. After all, the main essence of taking private Spanish lessons is to learn effectively.

Other benefits are:

  • You get continuous feedback from your Spanish tutor
  • Private lessons improve your confidence and self-esteem
  • You can suggest the topics you're specifically interested in learning
  • You get to learn Spanish any day you choose. It offers flexibility
  • You have the full attention of your Spanish tutor

How Many People in the World Speak Spanish?

Like Italian, Romanian, Portuguese and French, Spanish is a Romance language. By Romance, we do not mean it is a language of love (although we must admit that many people find Romance languages romantic), it means that the language evolved from Vulgar Latin.

Spanish has its root in the Iberian peninsula which is situated in southwest Europe (present-day Portugal and Spain). Spanish was formed by the Castilian continuation of Vulgar Latin mixed with the Moors' Arabic dialect. After many years of both languages being mixed, standard Spanish was birthed in the 1200s.

In the world, there are over 450 million native Spanish speakers. Right behind Spanish is English with about 360 million native speakers, making it the third most spoken language in the world. Additionally, Spanish ranks as the third most studied language in the world coming after French and English.

Adding to the number of native Spanish speakers, there are about 75 million people in the world that speak Spanish as their second language. Although the US has about 12 million bilingual Spanish speakers and 42 million native speakers, it is the second country with the largest Spanish speakers (Mexico is first). According to a study, there are predictions that the US will overtake Mexico to be the largest Spanish speaking country by 2050.

One of the 24 official languages of the European Union is Spanish. It is also spoken by a small number of people in countries like Germany, the UK, Italy and France.

Is Spanish Difficult to Learn?

Let's compare learning a new language to being an athlete. Athletes make it look easy on the field but they have put hours into their sport practice and at times where they really felt like giving all up. Like being an athlete, to learn any language at all, you have to understand it's not easy. However, the fact it's tasking doesn't mean it's difficult.

To learn Spanish, you need plenty of practice, dedication, enthusiasm and talent. Also, your knowledge of a second language can determine how easily you learn Spanish. Learning a new language becomes easy if you've learnt one or two languages before.

In addition, your knowledge of a Romance language can help you learn Spanish easily. Spanish is similar to Italian and Portuguese. However, if you're a native English speaker, things can get pretty difficult.

Being a native English speaker shouldn't stop you from learning Spanish. For instance, Spanish and English share similar sentence structures. Also, some Spanish words are easy to coin from English words which are referred to as English-Spanish cognates.

How Soon Can I Become Fluent in Spanish?

Spanish is quite similar to English making it a category 1 language. Owing to this, it will take you about two years to become fluent in Spanish if you study for one hour a day. However, you can choose to speed things up by learning Spanish with a private tutor for more than one hour every day.

Studying for a minimum of three hours daily can get you to conversation fluency in around six months. Summarily, the more time you spend studying Spanish, the quicker you achieve fluency.

While full immersion is advised, you can have fun while learning Spanish by watching famous Spanish movies, travelling to Spain or reading Spanish novels.
