Hi, my name is Julie or Jules Song. Yours truly is Vietnamese and queer. I am based in the CBD of Melbourne. I am a Bachelor of Arts alumni, currently doing a Early Childhood Teaching Graduate Diploma and Master of Teaching pathway.
I have tutor experience for small groups, and translating experience, as recently, I have translated 600 pages worth of books from English to Vietnamese.
Vietnamese is not the easiest language to learn, but if you already have known Cantonese or some Mandarin, it is a good start for you to learn Vietnamese. One of the perks of Vietnamese is that the characters are similar to the Latin alphabet, and there are no multiple systems like Japanese. Like studying other languages, the easiest way to learn Vietnamese is by practicing speaking and watching Vietnamese videos (with subtitles) to help you. Vietnamese is also a very playful language so I will also teach you to understand and make Vietnamese jokes π. It would take 100 hours to learn a new skill, and a few hours spent with me will help you advance with your learning. I also have a Working With Children Check (employee type) so if you are under 18 or you want like to have someone to teach and practice Vietnamese with them, I am available.
Hope to work with you soon.
Maybe. Melbourne has such diverse Vietnamese communities, so it would help you to practice speaking and listening to Vietnamese when going to the Vietnamese suburbs.
Not really. According to some sources, it is one of the hardest languages to learn but I donβt believe so. Maybe a 6 on the 1-10 scale of difficulty. Once you get pass the pronunciation and tones, it would get easier.
