Hello, my name is Leanne and I am a university student at WSU and a content marketing writing intern at GaoTek and social media assistant intern at Clean Up Nepal. I am Vietnamese Australian born in Sydney, Australia. Therefore, I am fluent in both English and Vietnamese and considered both equally as my native languages. I also know some basic conversational Korean. I have a passion for learning different foreign languages and cultures as I believe language and culture bring people together which promotes cultural diversity and understanding which is important in everyday life. I also enjoy teaching Vietnamese as it is fun to share my knowledge about my language and culture with foreigners. My teaching style is all about comfortability and having fun so each lesson will be adapted and catered to each student's ability. If you want to learn from me, then lets learn together :)
Note: Besides Vietnamese, I also teach conversational English and basic level grammar for those who are learning English as a second language.
Yes but it depends on each individual. Some people might pick up Vietnamese quicker than others and vice versa. I would say it it is difficult to learn Vietnamese as it's a tonal language. It's difficult but not impossible.
I cannot put a specific timeframe on how long it takes to become fluent in Vietnamese as it takes dedication and constant daily practice. If you put in effort during lessons by doing assigned weekly homework, self study and maintain weekly lessons, then after 6 months you should have a basic understanding of Vietnamese language in terms of reading, writing, listening and speaking (basic conversations).
I would highly encourage self study outside of tutoring too. Since lessons are either once or twice a week for 1.5-3 hrs. It is not enough to master a language, even if you spent 30 mins to 1hr per day consistently revising over grammar, tone, pronunciation, writing, reading etc then you are giving yourself the advantage in comparison to a student who is a quick learner but puts zero effort into self study.
