Hi, I’m Asami!
Born and raised in Hokkaido, I’m a native Japanese teacher who has lived in Australia for 19 years and taught Japanese for 10 years at one of the biggest Japanese language schools in Melbourne and for my own for another 3 years.
I’m fun-loving and easy-going, and I love creating a relaxed, friendly atmosphere where learning Japanese feels enjoyable and natural.
Whether you’re a complete beginner, self-studying, returning to Japanese, or already advanced, I tailor lessons to your level, goals, and interests!
Want to speak confidently, need the right guidance for your own goals, prepare for JLPT or VCE, or improve grammar, kanji, reading, listening, or everyday real Japanese? I’ll help you make Japanese clear, practical, and enjoyable.
Having taught students of different ages, nationalities, learning styles, and backgrounds, I know that everyone learns differently—and I’m here to support you every step of the way!
Learning Japanese in Melbourne is more fairly accessible!
Melbourne has a strong connection with Japan, so there are plenty of opportunities to hear, practise and enjoy Japanese through restaurants, events, cultural activities, travel and the local Japanese community.
The tricky part may be to find the experienced tutors who can help you identify the gaps in your Japanese and focus on exactly what you need to improve. Also, it might be a bit limited to have opportunities to actually use the language, especially if you live not in the center of the city.
That’s where personalised lessons can make a big difference. Whether you’re starting from zero or have been studying Japanese for years, I can help you build practical skills, speak with confidence and make steady progress towards your own goals.
Japanese may seem difficult at first, especially because of the writing systems and grammar, but it doesn’t have to be overwhelming! The key is learning step by step and understanding how Japanese works rather than trying to memorise everything at once.
There is no such a magic as "fluent in 3 months", but with the right guidance and regular practice, you can make steady progress and start using Japanese much sooner than you might expect (from the first lesson, really!). I’ll help you focus on what you actually need, explain things clearly, and build your confidence along the way—whatever your starting level or goal.
