One of the things I surprised... so many male students spoke "feminine" Japanese without knowing it..as they have more chance to learn it from ladies than gentlemen. This is just an example, I am excited to teach you "real" and "raw" Japanese with a laugh.... I love comedy, too. :) If you prefer learning polite Japanese, you can! as well with me. When I was in Japan, I worked at an office as well as 5-star hotels and VIP only Japanese private restaurants affiliated with a bank where I had to speak very polite Japanese. That means I can also teach polite Japanese "keigo" from my experiences on top of text books. I also teach JLPT and customise your lessons to meet your goal, purposes etc if you have one. I am Hoi-yan, a Hong Kong-born Chinese and am therefore fluent in Cantonese and English. I have also taught Japanese for 20 years in Hong Kong, handling beginner to advanced classes. The media of teaching were Cantonese and Japanese (fully Japanese for advanced classes). I hold a master degree in Japanese teaching from the Chinese University of Hong Kong. I've also taught Cantonese using English or Japanese as the media language. I have prepared a set of Cantonese teaching materials for beginners focusing on daily conversations. While the classes I handled followed specified textbooks, I also prepared my own teaching materials including ppt slides, notes and exercise sheets. I also included "nama-Kyou Zai" (materials from daily life including newspaper, drama, songs, etc.) into my teaching materials which appealed a lot to students. I am now residing in Auckland New Zealand and am looking forward to meeting students who are interested in learning Japanese or Cantonese.
