I am full Chinese though born and raised in the Philippines (3rd generation). I studied in a Filipino-Chinese school, so I also speak fluent Tagalog and English.

I was a Chinese Mandarin language tutor during my undergraduate years, and I also graduated with a minor in the language. Since graduating college, I've been working as a flight attendant and inflight Chinese interpreter for our flag carrier. So please take note that the schedule for our lessons will be based on my DAYS OFF (flight schedule is given monthly).

I started teaching online as a part time job during the height of the pandemic. I mostly handle students with no background in the language. Please note that I no longer teach Business Chinese, and simply concentrate on the basic levels. So if you need a more advanced level, I will not be able to accommodate. Extra: If you have zero background, don't worry! If you speak Tagalog, we're off to a good start! You'll be surprise how much easier it is to understand grammar from Tagalog to Chinese than it is from English to Chinese.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the easiest way to learn Chinese / Mandarin in Manila?

Practice! After giving you a set of vocabularies, I would run practice drills with you so you can be more familiar and comfortable with speaking the language.

How much time does it take to learn Chinese / Mandarin in Manila?

It really depends on your pace :) Once you're set with me, enrolment is done monthly and based on the schedule of my primary occupation.

You can never go wrong with choosing Teacher Sam as your Mandarin Teacher. She explains really well and makes sure that you understand the lesson before going to the next topic. HIGHLY RECOMMEND 💕

Patient and amiable! I have some background in Chinese and it's been a joy to re-learn and learn from Teacher Sam. Sam is an excellent teacher! She double-checks that I'm saying each word correctly and in the correct tones. When I'm stuck for an answer, she gives me a hint to help me remember. She is very sweet and patient with me, despite the fact that I have no knowledge of Chinese and come from a non-Chinese speaking family. Sam, I appreciate your patience with me. Sam, is a fun and caring teacher. She is really a patient teacher especially for a slow learner like me. What I like about her is that she keeps on repeating and repeating the lesson until you get the lesson. My parents are proud of me because I was able to convserse small sentences even though it is not perfect but the progress is there. She is amazingly a wonderful teacher .

Teacher Sam is very good and patient. She teaches my 7-year old daughter mandarin, both oral and written. Her weekly sessions really boosted my child's skills and confidence in her Chinese class requirements in school. I was hesitant to book a tutor at first because Mandarin is such a complex language, and I was worried I wouldn't be able to keep up. However, teacher Sam was incredibly patient and worked with me to get my pronunciation correct. She was very helpful and kept the lessons light-hearted. Definitely can't wait for future sessions.

My Lao Shi Samantha has always been very punctual. She is very respectful of time and our 1.5-hour is always packed and productive. She also has been very patient and very amiable, which makes the environment conducive to learning. So far, I have learned a lot already.

for the first 2 days of my Mandarin class with Samantha, I can say I have learned a lot than what I expected because Im a slow learner and I have zero knowledge about the language.
