ONLINE LESSONS - I'm a graduate teacher currently in South Africa. I am a very passionate and energetic person. I love seeing my students learn and make progress. My majors are Mathematics, Natural sciences and Technology, English as a first additional language, and Afrikaans as a home language. Learning a new language is simple only if you practice it frequently. It is very similar to Dutch, but just much prettier! Learning to speak and write fluently will take you a minimum of 6 months if you practice enough.

I am busy completing my Masters's in Biotechnology. I love teaching students, and I have helped many people out at the NWU's writing lab. My favorite session was working through an Afrikaans science project with a German student. You learn quickly that people write exactly what they hear. I hope to have more fun and interesting moments like these. The easiest way I could help her learn and talk like an Afrikaner was to engage in everyday conversation for the first 3 sessions and from there we moved over to writing. Every person will differ but I would say 10 sessions would establish a good basis for Afrikaans vocabulary.

Hello to all the people out there who would like to learn a new language or improve skills in another language! I Have a certificate in pastoral care completed in 2000 and completed my BA Psych degree 2019. (Qualification has been confirmed but awaiting certificate as there was no graduation ceremony due to lockdown) My children were homeschooled by me and I assisted in tutoring a few friends for better understanding the language. I believe that language deepens our understanding and stimulate thoughts on a deeper level. Languages can be very colorful and descriptive in ways never imagined. Over a decade ago, I started my Afrikaans teaching at the aftercare business I owned. What started as a helping hand for homework quickly turned into a passion, especially when I saw how much the kids’ Afrikaans marks shot up! Then came 2020, and like many of us, I started teaching online during the pandemic, and I’ve been tutoring virtually ever since! These days, I combine two of my favorite things: teaching and traveling. So whether I’m in a bustling city or a quiet beach town, I’m still connecting with students and helping them fall in love with Afrikaans. I absolutely love working with kids and young people; there’s something magical about watching them grow in confidence and skill. I currently only tutor FAL Afrikaans Grade 1 to 12. Due to the popularity of my lessons, only a few spaces remain open. I have availability on Wednesdays at 3:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. For homeschooling sessions, I am available in the mornings. I also have some availability on Saturdays and Sundays. I am fully booked on the remaining days.
