I am a retired elementary school teacher with 30 years experience teaching in Japan, where I taught all subjects. I engaged in voluntary teaching in Liberia, West Africa, for two years, when I was in my thirties. I taught Maths and Science to students at a Teachers` Training Institute. I also obtained a Masters degree in Development Studies from the University of KwaZulu Natal, where I studied for four years. I am married to a South African, who is also a teacher, and we have a young son. I enjoy gardening, fishing and playing with our son. I am looking forward to sharing my language and culture with willing learners in Cape Town, based on my experiences in both Japan and South Africa. I can teach not only conversational Japanese studies but also Japanese calligraphy and reading.
