I began my interest in Japanese in high school, through to studying & graduating with a Diploma in Japanese at Griffith University, to then living and working in Japan for over 10 years. From the beginning of only knowing thank you (ありがとうございます) and excuse me (すみません)to reaching Japanese Language Proficiency Test (JLPT) Level 1 (highest) and then working for 10+ years in sales for a Japanse manufacturer where all internal correspondence and meetings were in Japanese, my journey with the language has been long and incredibly rewarding. I hope that my understanding of what it is like to be a beginner in the language and how it's possible to reach advanced proficiency can be of value to you, and help you achieve your goals. Still a big fan of Japan, its culture and its people. Every level requires a different approach and I believe in making learning fun while building required fundamentals like grammar, vocabulary reading & writing. With 4+ years teaching languages to students of all ages (ages 4 to 84), I look forward to helping learners achieve their language goals (travel, school tests, hobbies, business). Having worked in Japan for over 10 years in a manufacturing company as the only non-Japanese person, I can advise on cultural differences and if required business Japanese also.

Hello! I am Iku. I come from Kyoto, Japan. I used to specialise in Applied Linguistics and study how to teach languages at a postgraduate level. I was born and raised in Kyoto and then I worked as a tutor for around three years in Japan. After that, I started to work as an English teacher at a high school. Not only did I teach English, but I have also taught Japanese to some people here in Australia. As well as I am experienced, I am very passionate about teaching languages. Although Japanese is said to be one of the hardest languages in the world, do not fret about it!! Feel free to flick me a message if you are interested in Japanese, especially the Kansai dialect!

Hi! My name is Taka, and I’m excited to help you on your Japanese learning journey! I’m originally from Japan and have been living in Australia for over ten years. As a native Japanese speaker, I understand both the language and the cultural nuances, which I believe are essential to mastering Japanese. My personality is friendly and laid-back, but I’m also focused and dedicated when it comes to teaching. Although I haven’t taught Japanese professionally before, I do have a qualification to teach English in Japan, and in my job, I’ve often taken on leadership roles, where I’m responsible for guiding and teaching others. This experience has given me strong communication skills and a love for helping people understand new things. Learning Japanese can be challenging, but that’s what makes it so rewarding! Hi, my name is Mako from Japan. I came to Australia in April in order to improve my English. I think it is important to learn Japanese with enjoyment so that I will take lessons with mainly natural conversation. I am working as a personal tutor for 3 students now. I have worked as a tutor for 3 years in Japan, and I had 7 regular students at that time. I like drawing so I always make documents with pictures. My students enjoy learning by using them. Hi, I am Misako from Japan. I'm studying translation and interpreting at an Australian university for my Master's degree. I worked in Japan for about 10 years, and came to Australia last year. While I don't have much formal experience as a Japanese teacher, I deeply understand the linguistic differences between Japanese and English as well as cultural differences. I registered as a tutor here because I was happy that my foreign friends were pleased when I taught them Japanese and corrected their mistakes. I can teach flexibly to suit your learning style.
