Hi, my name is Lena and I'm 22-year-old, German from Hamburg. I have been living in England for two years and I'm currently studying Media and Communication Management. I have always enjoyed going away and learning about new places and different languages. Back in 2013, I lived in the US for 6 months as a foreign exchange student which improved my English a lot. I went to High School which was an amazing experience and I lived with a lovely American host family. In 2016, after I finished my A- Levels in Hamburg, I came to England to work as an Au Pair and to make some new experiences. I lived in Maidenhead and worked for a family with two children/teenagers (15 and 17 Years old) for one year. I used to help them with their homework, which I really enjoyed. After I finished working for my host family, I decided to stay longer in England and do an online University degree course. I am Angela and I grew up in Switzerland where I graduated from the University of Zurich with a master’s in media and Communication. 5 years ago, my partner and I moved to London, where I retrained as a language teacher at the renowned Institute of Education at UCL. I’ve got the CELTA certificate which qualifies me to teach English as a foreign language too. I have about 5 years of experience tutoring German and EFL. I am a native German speaker and have lived in the UK for the last 25 years. I think German can be challenging to learn but if you want to learn it you definitely will be successful. I think choosing a topic that the student is interested in is very important and so is having lots of conversations. It’s also important to build a good rapport with students.

Hi everyone. My name is Anne, I´m German and I´m a certified Educator/Preschool teacher. I have worked as an Au-Pair in Great Britain as well as the US and I have been employed with several Preschools. I believe that learning needs to be fun, especially for younger children and I will include learning activities for them as well as older children (e.g. going around the house to pick up things to learn vocabulary). My Au-Pair children in America went to a German school so I gradually went from speaking English to speaking German with them, starting in German directly after school but switching to English later. This I continued until I only spoke in German to them. I will also take their hobbies and interests into account. If they learn about a language with a topic that interests them it will stick far better than just learning vocabulary. If that is the way you would like your children to learn German then I´m the person for you.
