Sometimes, when I speak English with friends, I feel like half of what I’m saying is just French with an English accent—and that feeling isn’t unfounded. Around 30% of English vocabulary comes from French, so if you already speak English, learning French words can feel surprisingly familiar. For me, the easiest way to learn French is through meaningful input. In other words, building emotional and personal connections with the sentences and vocabulary you learn.
