I am Hoi-yan, a Hong Kong-born Chinese and am therefore fluent in Cantonese and English. I have also taught Japanese for 20 years in Hong Kong, handling beginner to advanced classes. The media of teaching were Cantonese and Japanese (fully Japanese for advanced classes). I hold a master degree in Japanese teaching from the Chinese University of Hong Kong. I've also taught Cantonese using English or Japanese as the media language. I have prepared a set of Cantonese teaching materials for beginners focusing on daily conversations. While the classes I handled followed specified textbooks, I also prepared my own teaching materials including ppt slides, notes and exercise sheets. I also included "nama-Kyou Zai" (materials from daily life including newspaper, drama, songs, etc.) into my teaching materials which appealed a lot to students. I am now residing in Auckland New Zealand and am looking forward to meeting students who are interested in learning Japanese or Cantonese.
