Hi, I’m Benjamin! I’m a Singaporean Japanese tutor with over two years of experience teaching both individual and group lessons to learners aged 10–75.
I specialise in helping beginners build a strong foundation in Japanese, with clear grammar explanations in English and interactive practice. Whether you’re learning for travel, everyday conversations or JLPT N5–N4, I tailor lessons to your goals and pace.
Having learned Japanese myself, I understand the difficulties English-speaking learners face. I spend around five to six months in Japan each year and incorporate practical, colloquial expressions into lessons, alongside vocabulary and grammar.
I hold JLPT N3 and have studied advanced Japanese at NUS. My teaching experience also includes helping more than five students pass JLPT N3.

I think the best way to learn any language is to make friends and to immerse yourself in that language. In Singapore, the best way would be to make Japanese friends, listen to Japanese music, watch Japanese Dramas or Anime as well as to learn the vocabulary and grammar from books and from teachers

I think that it is actually quite easy to learn Japanese in Singapore now, due to technology being so efficient, we are able to access classes, information and make friends with Japanese people online. This allows people living in SIngapore to still be able to immerse themselves with the Japanese language and culture
