I am Hitomi and I am a Japanese native speaker. I was born and grew up in Osaka, the second biggest city in Japan. I have been living in New Zealand on and off since 2012 and am fluent in both Japanese and English. I’m a qualified Japanese teacher and have worked at a Japanese language school in Tokyo. How much time does it take to learn Japanese in Auckland?
It depends how much you can actually get to use Japanese in your daily life. I highly recommend taking lessons at least once a week - after one year of study, you could travel to Japan yourself and won’t have a big problem communicating with local people in shops and restaurants.
