Hi, I'm Lorenzo, a Ph.D. student at the University of Oxford. I was born in Belgium to Italian parents and always spoke Italian at home, as well as in school (I attended the European School in Brussels), before moving to the UK in 2017 to start my undergraduate degree.
I have taught conversational-level Italian for a few years now (I started in 2020), at the 3 main levels (beginner, intermediate, and advanced). A current student of mine has gone from beginner level to intermediate throughout our lessons.
My lessons usually consist of friendly conversations with the students about various topics, i.e., whatever is of interest to the student. All lessons are carried out with a view to getting the student to talk like an Italian - essentially, to get them to a level where they could live and communicate in Italy.
I believe Italian can be a challenging language to learn, but certainly easier than most other ones. Pronunciation of words is very straightforward, and everyday language expressions are very figurative, making it a very fun language to learn!
Like all languages, Italian is not easy. However, I believe it is easier than most other languages.
It depends what level of commitment and what starting level one has. If there is a basis, even one that is at the level of a beginner, progressing through higher and higher levels can happen steadily.
