Is Chinese / Mandarin easy to learn?

Learning a language is not an easy thing, including Chinese Mandarin. It requires long-time practice and basic word memorising to be fluent in it. I personally believe that listening to Chinese music and watching Chinese movies do help a bit in improving your Chinese level if you have studied a bit because that's when you learn with your interests. However, only watching entertainment is definitely not enough to learn a completely new language from zero, especially Chinese Mandarin. The changing in grammar and the meaning of the same character in different contexts can make you confused.
