I am a tour operator, I have been teaching language and culture for some years.
Personally I am a language geek, I'm fascinated by languages & culture. I speak conversational German, Spanish and to some extent some other European languages, currently I am still learning new languages like Swedish and Indonesian.
When I teach Cantonese I always like to make use my own experience and knowledge in other languages to compare things. Learning a language is never just about learning the words or grammar, it's about getting deep to get to know the people and the culture!

Is Cantonese easy to learn?
It depends on who you are and how deep you plan to get to. If you speak an Indo-European language (e.g. English), it's one of the most difficult languages for you to learn.
Tones of Cantonese are the most difficult thing to learn, then there is also the characters. But grammatically speaking most Chinese languages (including Mandarin, Cantonese) are far more simple than European languages.
Is it difficult to learn Cantonese in Hong Kong?
Yes and no, it depends on how adventurous and how open you are, to get to interact with local people.
