I am a qualified bilingual educator with a Bachelor of Education and experience teaching across five institutions. I have taught isiZulu as a Home Language and conversational isiZulu to both children and adults, working with over 700 learners at different levels.
I have developed my own conversational isiZulu curriculum, designed to help learners gain confidence and practical speaking skills. My teaching approach is interactive, inquiry-based, and learner-centred, making isiZulu accessible, engaging, and enjoyable for beginners and advanced learners alike.
I understand that learning a new language can feel intimidating. I aim to create a relaxed, supportive environment where learners feel comfortable and confident from the very first lesson. All lessons are conducted online, allowing learners to join from anywhere in a convenient and flexible way.
Learning isiZulu in Johannesburg can be very achievable with the right support. With a patient teacher whose home language is isiZulu, learners can build their speaking skills confidently from the ground up.
Johannesburg’s diverse and vibrant community offers many opportunities to hear and practise isiZulu in real-life situations, at work, in social spaces and in everyday interactions. When strong foundational teaching is combined with regular exposure, learning isiZulu becomes practical, engaging and enjoyable.
With consistent lessons and regular practice, most learners begin speaking basic isiZulu within 1–3 months. By 3–6 months, many can hold simple conversations about everyday topics. Comfortable, natural communication typically develops within 6–12 months, depending on how often the language is used. In Johannesburg, daily exposure to isiZulu often helps learners progress faster.
