I am a psychologist and have worked mostly in special education, I have an article and thesis on mathematical talent. I have taught intensive Spanish classes in Mexico to Latino children born in the USA. Intensive Spanish to be able to enter school in Spanish. I think that the main problem when learning a language is that it is taught to us through translation and a new language should be the extension of our first language. So I propose teaching Spanish as it is taught in Mexico to all children, as if it were the first language, through the discovery of meaning with images or situations.
