I will teach you basic Spanish in the context of an English speaker.
Why learn Spanish?
Spanish is a major global language and is relatively easy language for English speakers with a lot of available resources to learn from (Spanish music, movies, TV series).
What do I offer?
I have experience self-studying languages online and understand the difficulties faced by new students learning Spanish such as features like word genders and accents which are non-existent in English.
I would work towards adapting to your learning style and recommend free or affordable resources online to supplement your learning.
What will I focus on?
Areas I would focus on would be common expressions, identifying cognates (words of similar origin; you already know a large portion of Spanish grammar!), improving pronunciation and basic grammar.
When and where?
Friday (9am-11am) & Saturday (10am-12pm). Preferably NUS campus/Clementi.
It is absolutely doable given dedication and practice. Learning a language goes beyond studying grammar and vocabulary and practice makes perfect.
Luckily, there are several groups (social events for language exchange) which are dedicated to letting learners of Spanish come and practice in person with native, intermediate and basic speakers.
It would take about 1.5 years to get to a comfortable conversational level. However, a few months of dedicated learning would allow you to express yourself and understand basic daily conversations.
