Hi! My name is Irene, and I’m from Madrid (Spain). I work as a teacher in a public preschool in Helsinki, and I also hold a Master’s degree in Secondary Education and a Master’s degree in Teaching Spanish as a Foreign Language.
I have been teaching Spanish for a year and a half to people who are interested in Spanish culture and want to start learning the language or improve their level. My methodology is based on dynamic learning, with personalized lessons tailored to each student’s interests, combining theory with real, everyday Spanish.
I speak Spanish and English, and I am learning Finnish at the moment, so I truly understand that a language goes beyond the grammar found in textbooks. In addition, my support doesn’t end when the lesson is over — you can contact me by email to ask questions, get feedback on exercises, and receive help whenever you need it.
I’ll be by your side to help you achieve your goals. Let’s do it together!
For Finnish speakers, Spanish can actually be a very refreshing language to learn. The pronunciation is clear and consistent, and once you know the rules, Spanish is very predictable. The biggest challenge is not grammar, but gaining confidence to speak — and that’s exactly what we work on together in class, step by step and at your own pace.
This depends on your goal and how regularly you practice. With weekly lessons and some exposure between classes, many students can start communicating in everyday situations within a few months. Learning Spanish in Helsinki is absolutely possible — with personalized lessons and practical Spanish, progress is steady and motivating, even without living in a Spanish-speaking country.
