👋🏻 Olá!

👩🏻 My name is Sara, I’m 40 years old and I am an experienced native Portuguese tutor based in the heart of Porto - one of the most beautiful cities in the word, and also my hometown.

🌍 I’ve been teaching Portuguese for over 23 years, both to native speakers and to foreigners - whether they're living in Portugal, planning to move here, have Portuguese roots, or simply fell in love with our country and people. I work with students from all over the world, of all ages (from 8 to 80!) and levels. Everyone is welcome!

👩🏻‍🎓 I hold a degree in Journalism, a postgraduate diploma in Communication, Culture and Information Technology and several additional certifications in Communication and Marketing. But Portuguese - along with Music - has always been my greatest passion!

About my classes

🪜 I teach basic, intermediate and advanced Portuguese (A1, A2, B1, B2, C1). I believe strongly in a personalized approach to teaching, so each class is tailored to the student's background, learning style, pace, needs and goals. My aim is to help students progress quickly and confidently, while following a structured method that ensures a solid foundation in the language.

💡 Each lesson includes both a theoretical and a highly engaging practical component, covering pronunciation, reading and listening comprehension, oral and written production, vocabulary and grammar. After just 10 sessions, students will be able to ask and answer basic questions in everyday contexts. I also prepare students for official Portuguese language exams like CIPLE, DEPLE and DIPLE.

📚 There's no need to purchase a textbook for my classes - I provide all necessary materials and tools at no extra cost, ensuring an effective and engaging learning experience. After each session, I send class materials by email and I'm happy to assign some homework upon request, which I'll review in the following lesson.

🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿🇵🇹 I usually teach in English, and, as students progress, we gradually shift to Portuguese. I also understand and speak some Spanish, French and Italian, which can be helpful in supporting beginner students.

ℹ️ Classes can be held online (via Zoom) or ir person, at a location of the student’s choice in Porto (an additional travel fee applies for in-person lessons). I offer individual or group classes, with 60 or 90 minute options, and flexible scheduling and pricing.

❗️Please note that cancellations with less than 20 hours' notice will be charged 50% of the class fee.
