With four years of experience teaching Korean, I am dedicated to creating engaging, immersive learning environments that help students thrive in both language and cultural understanding. Teaching Korean outside of Korea presents unique challenges, but I see it as an opportunity to provide authentic experiences that make students feel as if they are learning in Korea itself.
My experience as a translator and cooking assistant at the YMCA in Daegu, where I introduced foreign students to Korean culture through hands-on cooking classes, further reinforced my belief in the power of cultural immersion. These experiences have shaped my teaching philosophy: language learning should be interactive, enjoyable, and deeply connected to culture.
I am excited about the opportunity to contribute to all my students vibrant community and bring my passion for cross-cultural communication to its classrooms. Thank you for considering my application. I would welcome the chance to discuss how my experience and enthusiasm can support your mission.
Sincerely,
John
The easiest way to learn Korean in Melbourne isn't just meeting Korean people and speaking with them—although that's certainly helpful. More importantly, it's about creating an environment around you that feels as close to living in Korea as possible. For example, when you're watching a movie alone at home, instead of saying "Wow, that's awesome" in English, try saying it in Korean—like "진짜 대단하다". Making small changes like this in your daily habits will help you improve your Korean skills much faster.
There are many Koreans in Australia, so learning Korean isn't very difficult. However, if you don’t have the motivation or willingness to learn, it can definitely feel challenging.
