Hello! My name is Annabel. I am a native Igbo speaker and a certified English tutor holding a 120-hour TEFL qualification. I specialize in teaching conversational Igbo to the global diaspora and helping students of all levels build practical communication skills in English. My lessons are personalized, highly interactive, and tailored entirely to your learning goals—whether you want to master basic grammar, practice daily conversation, or help your children connect with their heritage. I look forward to helping you speak with clarity and confidence!
Learning Igbo is a beautiful and highly rewarding journey! While it is a tonal language, which means the pitch or inflection you use can change the meaning of a word, it becomes significantly easier when you practice with a patient, native speaker. The grammar rules are surprisingly straightforward, and there are no complex gender markers for nouns like in some European languages. In my online lessons, I break down conversational phrases, vocabulary, and pronunciation into simple, everyday steps so that beginners can start speaking with confidence right from their very first week.
It is not difficult at all, especially because Lagos is a massive, diverse hub with a huge vibrant Igbo community and cultural presence! However, because English and Pidgin are the main languages spoken on the streets daily, finding a structured environment to practice speaking authentic Igbo can sometimes be a challenge. That is exactly why taking structured online lessons is the perfect solution. My online classes bridge that gap completely by providing you with a dedicated, focused space to practice your speaking, listening, and conversational skills from the comfort of your own home.
