Bonjour! I'm a native French speaker, born and raised in France, and I've just moved to Singapore, excited to bring my language and my passion for teaching to students here.
My teaching background
I started tutoring while I was still in high school in France. During the evening study sessions ("tuition time," as it's called here) my school offered to elementary students, I was the one in charge of supervising and helping the younger kids with their homework. That experience taught me how to explain things simply, how to keep young learners engaged, and how to be patient when a concept doesn't click the first time. I loved every session, and it's actually what convinced me that teaching is something I want to keep doing, wherever I am in the world.
As a native speaker, I bring more than textbook French. I bring the real accent, the everyday expressions, the cultural context, and the little tricks that make grammar rules actually make sense. I know exactly which parts of French tend to confuse learners, because I've watched kids stumble on the same points again and again, and I know how to walk them through it without frustration.
What makes me different
I'm often described by the people close to me as "solar," someone who brings warmth and energy into a room. I'm outgoing, upbeat, and genuinely love meeting new people, which is part of why I chose to move to Singapore in the first place. I think that energy matters a lot in tutoring, especially with younger students. A lesson feels less like a chore when the person teaching it is smiling, curious, and patient with mistakes. I never rush a student who's struggling. I'd rather slow down and make sure something is truly understood than move on and let confusion pile up.
I also see myself as a lifelong student. Moving to a new country, adapting to a new culture, and learning to navigate life in Singapore all keep me humble and remind me what it actually feels like to be a beginner. I think that makes me a more empathetic teacher.

How easy is it to learn French? Is French easy to learn? French is very learnable, especially for English speakers, since the two languages share a lot of vocabulary (nearly a third of English words have French roots). The parts that trip people up are usually pronunciation, grammatical gender (le/la), and verb conjugations. None of these are hard once they're broken down step by step and practiced regularly. It's really about consistency, not raw difficulty.
What is the easiest way to learn French? The most effective approach combines the three things people often try to do separately: speaking practice, structured grammar, and exposure to real French (songs, shows, conversations). I like to start every student with speaking from day one, even with a tiny vocabulary, because it builds confidence and makes the grammar feel useful rather than abstract. Little and often beats long, infrequent sessions. Twenty focused minutes a few times a week goes further than one long session on the weekend.
Is it difficult to learn French? Not more difficult than any other language. It just has a few specific hurdles (pronunciation, gender agreement, verb tenses) that feel bigger than they are until you get used to them. With the right guidance, most students get past these within a few months of consistent practice.
How much time does it take to learn French in Singapore?
How much time does it take to learn French? It depends on the goal. For a child building a foundation for school, you'll usually see real progress in reading, writing, and conversation within 6 months to a year of regular lessons. For conversational comfort, many learners get there within a year of steady weekly practice. Fluency takes longer and depends on how much a student is exposed to French outside of lessons too, which is why I always encourage a bit of French in daily life, not just during our sessions.
