I'm 25 years old, born and raised in Paris, and I've been living in Berlin for a year now.
I have been learning German and teaching French ever since, and I am currently preparing for a diploma in French as a foreign language.
I speak fluent English and am almost fluent in German (B2/C1 level).
I'm passionate about languages and am always trying to understand their mechanisms and the links between them. I will try to share what I have learnt about French with you (even though French doesn't always make sense!)
I'm also passionate about sound: in my spare time, I build speakers, DJ and organise events.
From my experience, to learn a language you need:
- some time alone to focus on understanding grammar, learning vocabulary, listening to podcasts, etc...
- plenty of time to exchange, if possible with native speakers, to practice and repeat. Thankfully there is a huge French community in Berlin.
Difficult points: spelling (often difficult for no reason), pronunciation, some unique grammatical concepts.
Easy points: for English speakers, many words are similar in French and English.
I would say that every language is difficult to learn, especially if it is your first language or very different from your mother tongue. It always comes down to time and repetition.
