I am Donna, from the beautiful province of Abra. Being a tutor means much more than just teaching facts and figures. It’s about shaping the future by instilling values, intellect, and knowledge in foreigners' minds. I love teaching because it is really rewarding. It's satisfying to see others progress both academically and non-academically as rounded people and future citizens. I may not be the best but I know I can be a good role model. I was an elementary Filipino tutor before and I enjoyed doing my job especially when I saw my students learning a lot from me.
Immersing yourself in a language by listening to native speakers converse can be a great way to pick up the most commonly used words and phrases. If you have Filipino friends, ask them to converse in the language and try to follow along with them.
For beginners with no prior knowledge of Tagalog, achieving a basic level of proficiency may take approximately 3 to 6 months of regular study and practice. At this level, learners can understand and use simple phrases, engage in basic conversations, and grasp essential vocabulary and grammar.
If you don't mind not sounding like a native speaker, I believe Tagalog or Filipino is easy to learn, what separates a learner from a native speaker is the way we use our conjugations. We have ways of using our verb conjugations that even we are unable to explain. One advantage if you know Spanish learning Tagalog you don't have to learn our numbers, months, or times, because we also use Spanish, and be delighted! It is understandable in most of the Philippines.
I, personally believe that learning Filipino is not difficult because Filipino is a relatively easy language to learn. It uses the Roman alphabet and has easily recognizable markers for objects, persons, and adjectives. Its verbs use infixes to give it a sense of time.
