Friendly and Enthusiastic English Tutor

Hello everyone! My name is Daria and I am a teacher specializing in English language and literature. I have extensive experience in one-to-one tutoring of children of primary school ages (6-11 years old) and GCSE students (12 to 16 years old). I have been tutoring for around 3 years, and have provided regular tutoring for home-schooled students, as well as helped GCSE students prepare for their exams through practicing essay writing and past papers. I can help elevate your grade and assist you with skills such as in-depth text analysis, linguistic terminology, and essay writing. I can also help develop your reading, writing, and grammar skills! I have a very strong academic background in English, which means that I am able to provide quality tutoring. Furthermore, I have a real passion for the subject I teach, and have read many classical texts throughout my English Literature BA (Hons) degree with The Open University!

I also have extensive experience in teaching English as a Second Language (ESL) to students varying in ages from 6 to 18 and have successfully moved up students with beginner levels of English to intermediate and upper-intermediate levels. I have lived in over 8 countries, including Sweden, Switzerland, UAE, Germany, Bulgaria, Ukraine, and Egypt, which makes me very well suited to teach students of different backgrounds and cultures! I also speak fluent Russian and Ukrainian.

I have great knowledge of the UK curriculum, as well as the requirements of exam boards such as AQA and Edexcel. My teaching style is very friendly, dynamic, and patient, and I like to engage my students in active discussions about the subject. I like to incorporate meta-cognitive strategies in my lessons and hear my students' interpretations of the texts we are studying. My goal is to help students excel in English, whilst demonstrating how English can be a very fun and enjoyable subject to study!
