My name is Teacher Angie and I hail from beautiful South Africa; I love traveling locally and look forward to venturing around the world. I matriculated in 2005, & thereafter completed a certificate in Office Management and pastel accounting. I started my career in the banking industry, specializing in customer service property finance, fulfilling roles such as manager, relationship executive, and sales consultant. I have completed certificates in management, emotional intelligence, business writing, and assertiveness, and in 2023 completed a 120-hour TEFL and Advanced English certificate and am currently completing a 3-year Diploma in Public Relations through the University of South Africa.
In 2017 I started my career in the Education sector & was awarded the opportunity to manage a school campus in 2020. I was responsible for the day-to-day running of the school and overseeing curriculum management. I also taught Afrikaans as a secondary language for primary school, for 1 and a half years. I aim to create a disciplined learning environment, allowing interactive engagement during lessons.
I incorporate different teaching aids in the classroom, in order to cater to the diverse learning needs and styles of students. Implementation of a reward system is a creative way to validate learners’ performance and creates a platform to give regular feedback and an opportunity for learners. My personal learning style is kinetic, requiring both visual and audible stimuli, in order for me to grasp concepts, implementing activities like reading aloud, allows both visual and audible learners to follow a lesson. Regular assessment is an absolute must, as this allows me to change my teaching techniques if need be.
Through exposure to the language, conversation and mimicking or practicing the sounds in and of the words. Speaking comes naturally to all, as we are innate communicators, it's a matter of comprehending the sound of a letter or word.
Understanding the foundation of the phonetical alphabet, will make it easy to read, comprehend and speak the language. As you gradually widen the scope to science of the language and the methodology of parts of speech and sentence structures, it becomes easier to speak the language in a conversational aspect. Learning is not always easy, but practice makes perfect.
