Hello, learners!
I am a native Canadian English speaker living in Yuen Long, and I'm able to help you in all aspects of learning and perfecting English.
The Central Canadian English dialect I teach is very neutral and easily understood by all English speakers around the world.
I have lived in Hong Kong for 13 years and as a result, I can speak some Cantonese and a little Mandarin.
This gives me an advantage over most English tutors as I clearly understand the difficulties a native Chinese speaker encounters when trying to pronounce English words understandably.
Using Chinese words and sounds as a basis to develop correct pronunciation and other unique tutoring techniques I've developed over the years, I can effectively teach you to speak English understandably and naturally. I am a former engineer, and I approach English tutoring in a different way than most formally trained English teachers. I analyze my students' capabilities, strengths, and weaknesses, and use a problem-solving and troubleshooting approach to "design" the best method to suit each student's individual learning needs.
I have found this to be very effective, as I use creativity to overcome students' unique difficulties, rather than a blunt, one-size-fits-all "This Is How You Teach" approach utilized by most educators.

How easy is it to learn English in Hong Kong?

Learning English in HK is becoming more difficult. The education system is changing, and the poor English skills seen in most people under the age of 40 are quite obvious. However, with the assistance of a skilled and capable native English-speaking tutor, it becomes much easier!
