Successful English tutor with experience in building engaging lesson plans and communicating concepts to foster student comprehension. As a mixed (HK/ Korean) student who was born locally and grew up in a culturally diverse household and environment, I have first-hand experience with encountering English learning difficulties and frustrations in Hong Kong. Skilled in adapting course materials to meet individual academic capabilities and increasing students’ interest in seemingly dull exercises. Passionate about behavioral and clinical psychology, hence well-versed in motivating students to meet academic objectives.
I personally believe that compared to other countries in Asia, Hong Kong is one of the best places to learn English. Considering the fact that it's spoken in most areas of the city, there are countless opportunities for us to practice our oral skills (e.g. ordering an Americano at Starbucks). Plus in this day and age, nearly everyone uses social media which increases the chances of us making new friends because of just how densely populated Hong Kong is. If you're more introverted, there are always public libraries or cinemas scattered around Hong Kong that you can go to.
Very. As someone who speaks over 4 languages, I can safely say that English is the easiest one to pick up compared to others like Chinese, French, or even Korean. English is indeed easy to learn because of its prevalence in pop culture, and if you are under 35 years old you'd know how memes and jokes can make any dull topic way more fun and tolerable. That said, an interest in learning the English language is crucial before we start looking into anything advanced because it helps us stay consistent with our progress. From then on, it's just a matter of finding the right people and if you're reading this, chances are you've already found someone great to learn English with *cough* me *cough*.
