British Native English and Music Tutor

Hello! My name is Deanna, I am an English Native speaker that is of mixed heritage (half Chinese, half English). I speak Cantonese as my second language and basic mandarin. I studied University in London and went on to complete the 120-hour TEFL certificate. I have also completed Grade 8 Piano ABRSM syllabus and my bachelor degree is in Vocals.

I am the founder of Language Melodies Education Ltd, offering English and Music classes (Piano and Singing) to all students aged 3+. Coming to Hong Kong 4 years ago, I have previously worked as a full time NET teacher at a learning centre teaching Phonics and English-speaking classes for children ranging from K1-P2. As well as, working as a kindergarten teacher in Hangzhou and Hong Kong, teaching k1, playgroup and after school ESL programs (such as English interview, grammar, maths). I have most recently opened my own centre in Wan Chai. focusing on teaching Phonics, Cambridge, ESF School prep, Grammer, Speaking and pronunciation skills, etc. Using a jolly phonics systematic method to teach kids to read.

For my younger students aged 3-4, English lessons would incorporate more games and activities so that the child is more hands-on and engaged throughout the lesson. Whereas for my students age 6+ I would use a variety of different worksheets, books, games, and writing tasks. My lessons always cater to each individual student’s needs, where I will create a tailored lesson plan around what my students are looking to achieve or I will follow the material that is provided to me. Whether you are a student simply looking to polish up and improve your speaking/listening skills with a Native speaker or you would like your child to focus on learning phonics, English grammar, Exam prep, etc.

For Piano classes, students can learn ABRSM syllabus or for enjoyment. For Vocal students, song choices are students choice. There is a bi-annual recital arranged, allowing students an opportunity to perform.

My aim is to provide guidance and develop each of my student's music or English skills so that they may achieve their personal full potential. Whilst encouraging my students to feel more confident in using their English on a day-to-day basis. I am a patient, fun-loving, and motivating teacher that firmly believes each student should always enjoy our lessons, learn at their own pace and get the most out of our lessons together.
