Self Taught Dutch speaker - TEFL & Immersion Technique

Hi, I am Susie and have lived in the Netherlands for 4 years and have taught myself Dutch by immersing myself in life here and working in care work and living with my Dutch-speaking partner and spending time with his family. I have previous experience of learning languages such as French and Spanish and I have completed a 20 hour TEFL training course. Now I would like to employ my skills and empower others to be able to improve their Dutch so that they can get the most out of living here. I am so grateful to everyone who has made me feel so welcome here and I think my effort to learn the language has a lot to do with how positive my experience has been. I hope to give you fundamental language learning skills to take home so that you too can independently learn Dutch without spending a fortune on lessons. I will find out about your learning style and.adapt the tuition to your personal learning style whether that is working through a text book and learning long word lists, or learning through reading and comprehension of texts and watching the news, learning through music and songs, or having topic themed conversations. I will first show you how to keep a vocabulary builder, learn commonly used phrases for specific situations by acting out the situations, how to deal with an emergency (I did an EHBO course in Dutch so I can teach some EHBO in Dutch) and you could also come with me to help out running an art workshop for elderly people and practise interacting there. We could also learn languages through cooking or pretending to cook or going to the market together for example. I will think of more ideas. Groetjes, Susie
