My name is Luna, a 20-year-old, momentarily based in Cape Town.
As long as I can remember I've had a great interest in languages. My curiosity has brought me far. This passion goes from Korean to French, to Mandarin to Italian. Language is the key to bringing people from all over the world closer. It is more than just words: language is deeply rooted and intertwined in each culture and tradition. By learning the language, you learn about people's history, their lifestyle, morals, and values. Therefore, a language is the door to infiltrating into a new community.
It is to your advantage if you are already familiar with Afrikaans, as the two languages partly look and sound similar. However, if you start from the very beginning, that doesn't particularly mean studying Dutch will be difficult. We just need to be eager to learn, be curious, and bring a lot of enthusiasm into our sessions. Dreams are limitless and I believe in you!

I personally think living in Cape Town is definetly to your advantage regarding studying Dutch. The city is full of internationals, meaning you will always find others to practice the language with.
