Fifteen years ago, while giving a course in creative writing, a Dutch language trainer asked me if I wanted to teach Dutch to a few expats. I said yes without really knowing what I was getting into, but things went well and I liked it.
At the time I mainly wrote drama series for Dutch and German television. That was a nice job, but gradually I began to write less and teach more. I liked teaching so much that I went back to university to become a certified NT2 (Dutch as 2nd language) teacher. Ever since, I train and teach expats as well as refugees, both with much pleasure.
Apart from all the regular subjects, I constantly pay attention to proper and correct pronunciation. Plus, I gladly look into specific problems related to someone's first language ( the "R" for Chinese students, the "H" for many Eastern Europeans).
I prefer teaching students from the very beginning (level A0). This way we can be sure of a solid base to build on.
Looking forward to meeting you, inspiring you and contributing to your Dutch.
* Although I don't mind teaching online once in a while, I prefer giving lessons on location.
The easiest way: USE the language! Best advice: spend ten minutes a day on speaking (to neighbours, Dutch friends, people at the gym or in the shop), ten minutes on listening (childrens news, everyday 18:45 on NPO 3, BNR Radio), ten minutes on writing (e-mails) and ten minutes on reading (local newspaper, news app like NOS, books for children). So fourty minutes - in combination with one, preferably two lessons a week. Then you'll be fine!
