Yaoyao profile for Mandarin Chinese

Private Chinese / Mandarin Tutor in Singapore and Online

Offers ONLINE Lessons only.

Ni3 hao3 (你好 Hello)! I am Yaoyao (尧尧)from Harbin (northeast 东北), China. Being a native Mandarin speaker, I embarked on my teaching journey in 2015, so far I have over 9 years of teaching experience with students in conversational, and business Mandarin as well as HSK (Hanyu Shuiping Kaoshi) levels.

Most of my students are working adults, and some are young teenagers and kids who are less than 10 years old. I conduct both private and group teaching and the largest group training I had is around 10 pax. I also have Singapore’s 5-star-hotel staff training experiences for basic and business Chinese.

In 2016, I obtained my Master's degree from a 3-year research program in the Sociology division at Nanyang Technological University and my Bachelor's degree in Law from Hunan Normal University in China back in 2012.

My teaching style is to provide my students with the most customizable and adjustable textbook contents and teaching pace compatible with their learning curve and speed. I enjoy exchanging traditional and contemporary Chinese culture with my students' cultures.

My main goal is to make my students capable of conversing fluently in Mandarin with their Chinese families, friends, and counterparts in daily life and business settings during socialization and trips to China.

Learning a new language is like getting a new key to open a new door, behind which there is a new world awaiting. Give yourself the key and let a world of 1.4 billion people embrace you!

Frequently Asked Questions

Is Chinese / Mandarin easy to learn?

How easy a language is to learn is based on an individual-to-individual case. Generally speaking, Mandarin Chinese is relatively easy to catch in terms of its pronunciation and grammar (even if Mandarin's 4 different tones require a bit of practice); As for reading and writing, most of my students find it rather challenging to master the Chinese characters, to put it in a nutshell.

How much time does it take to learn Chinese / Mandarin in Singapore?

Again, how much time it takes to master a language is also a case-by-case situation. In general, being one of the most difficult languages in the world, Mandarin Chinese would require at least 200 hours' learning for beginners if they want to learn the basic knowledge of this language. However, some may use less time than that while others need more. It depends. But an international survey shows that it takes over 2000 hours of learning and practice to achieve the master level of Mandarin.
