Hello, my name is Dorothy. I grew up in Hong Kong spending my childhood and youth during 1980s and 1990s, good old days of Hong Kong. I love Hong Kong culture and it would be my pleasure if I could help preserving it through teaching Cantonese.
I was a former accountant but I am interested in art more than numbers. I love live theatre including traditional Cantonese opera. I could share with you classic local songs and movie and TV drama clips which would be interesting materials to learn Cantonese and Hong Kong culture.

Is Cantonese easy to learn?
It is hard to tell whether it is difficult to learn Cantonese as a foreigner because I did not experience it myself. But certainly it is full of fun to learn this language as it is vibrant and flourishing. There are new terms invented every few years and I feel entertained when I learn those terms too. You will never know unless you try.
Is it difficult to learn Cantonese in Auckland?
Surprisingly, there are more Chinese stores and restaurants in Auckland than I thought and people could understand or speak Cantonese in these places. It provides a good environment for practicing Cantonese with different people. You could use Cantonese in Malaysian restaurant too. It would be nice to learn and try tasty asian cuisine at the same time!
