I am an Egyptian volunteer abroad in Zagreb, with previous experience in teaching Arabic to foreigners for 2 years. I can teach Fosha (Formal) Arabic, or Egyptian Arabic which is used and understood often in many Arab countries. The lessons will be conducted in English because my Croatian is bad (so you can think of that as free English practice as well, why not). A little about me, I am very interested in music and theater. I love creative writing, history, and film making. I am not volunteering to learn more about non formal education techniques and I am hoping to apply some of them during our lessons if you're up for it.
To first start by understanding how the language alphabets and general rules work, then slowly divert into conversations and common phrases. You'd find that many Arabic words are frequently repeated in conversations and starting off with them makes the first step a little more fun.
Although it's statistically one of the hardest languages to learn for English speakers, it's not necessarily difficult with enough enthusiasm and diversity of resources (films, human conversations, reading, etc). Depending on which skills you'd like to focus on (writing, speaking, reading, listening, or all), it can take a minimum of one month to have basic conversation in Arabic. It can take a year to master the language if you are really dedicated.
