Vietnamese is not a very hard to learn language. The hardest part is pronunciation, as there are tones that foreigners can not correctly pronounce. The next thing is that in Vietnamese, there are a lot of words which are pronounced exactly the same, but they have different meanings based on the context, so it might make new learners confused. I think it would only take a few months to be able to communicate in daily conversation.
