I am a professional Turkish Language and Literature teacher based in Melbourne. Since moving here in 2022, I have been teaching students across Australia and globally, building on my professional teaching foundation from Turkey. With over 4 years of experience, I focus on making the language practical and natural for everyone I work with, from preschool children to mature adults.

How easy is it to learn Turkish in Melbourne?

It’s very accessible because of our vibrant local community. To make it even easier, I introduce my students to each other and to my own Turkish social circle for meetups outside of class. This gives you a natural way to practice and build a social network here while following my structured online lessons.

Is it difficult to learn Turkish in Melbourne?

It’s more "different" than difficult. Being based in Melbourne, I understand exactly where English speakers struggle. While the sentence structure is unique, Turkish is entirely phonetic. I use tailored plans and our social meetups to make the logic feel natural and manageable rather than academic or dry.

An excellent teacher - hard to fault! In no particular order of priority: patient but persistent & determined. She makes me try hard to say it in Turkish Very well-prepared. She has the first-rate teacher’s ability to explain & then explain another way & every explanation is supported by examples Patient again. I do struggle with the technology but thanks to Berfin I’ve never lost the battle Impressive depth of knowledge. We nearly always have a Life & Customs section in our tutorial meetings. My progress in the language is enriched by conversations that cover linguistics & the evolution of Modern Turkish, history, television & literature, social structures, comparisons with my culture. She is the whole deal. I can’t believe how lucky I am.

I honeslty highly recommend Berfin as your turkish tutor, She is extremely patient and supportive. She is very organised and teaches well. Just after having 3 sessions with berfin your will be able to speak basic turkish. She is also very nice and good to talk to.

I am having a wonderful experience of learning Turkish with Berfin! Her in-depth knowledge of the language (and other Turkic languages) give her such a solid understanding of the grammar and syntax etc, there is no question I can ask that stumps her 😄 Berfin is warm, encouraging and funny, which makes her a lovely person to learn from and with. After a year of Turkish school my daughter couldn’t even say hello in Turkish. After 2 months with Berfin she can count to 100, knows her colours and can converse in basic Turkish with the family. I couldn’t recommend Berfin enough! She is bright, kind, patient and makes every lesson engaging and fun. If I could give her 10 stars I would!
