Hello all, I'm Yağmur and currently I'm living in İstanbul. I've studied English language teaching at YTU but before the end of my education, I decided to use English as a tool to teach Turkish to foreigners. And it was one of the best decisions I've ever made tbh. My first experience in this area was tutoring my English teacher in a language school while I was in high school, had always a great Turkish grammar (show off). Then I started tutoring and later on I got my Teaching Turkish Language to Foreigners certificate (issued by Istanbul Uni.) and made it official. I had more than 15 students in more than 3 years and we have achieved great progress. I'm also familiar with the classroom environment and gave group lessons.

What is the easiest way to learn Turkish in Istanbul?

I know it is debatable but for me the key to learning a foreign language is to practice. Whether you want to pass an exam or want to be able to speak in that language all you have to do is practicing in order to accomplish your goal. I plan my lessons according to your needs and wants. I can without a doubt say that book-guided lessons are not effective, using them as a path is way better. Also do not be scared to make mistakes/errors. Also, please do not try to understand everything as a rule because this is not how languages work. There are lots of exceptions and you have to KNOW them as chunks.

Is it difficult to learn Turkish in Istanbul?

No, it is not. Since İstanbul is in Turkey and you want to learn Turkish; how could it be? I mean I've learned cyrillic alphabet when I was in Ukraine for 1 week. My point is, if you are surrounded with Turkish people, signs, and everything, you will naturally start to understand the structure of the language. Then you will notice that you start to understand what's been said when people talk.
