Hi! I’m Eddie, originally from Colombia and currently living in Taiwan, where I’ve been teaching languages for many years.
I’m a native Spanish speaker and an experienced English and Spanish teacher with more than 12 years of teaching experience. I have a BA in Modern Languages, specialising in Spanish and English, an MA in Applied Linguistics and English Language Teaching from St Mary’s University in London, and a 140-hour TEFL certificate. I also have experience as an online tutor and preparing students for DELE, IELTS, and TOEFL exams.
So, is Spanish difficult to learn? Honestly, it depends on your goals, your first language, and how regularly you practise. But Spanish is a very accessible language to learn, and you don’t need to be naturally “good at languages” to make real progress.
The easiest way to learn Spanish is to start using it from day one. That’s why my lessons focus on communication rather than simply memorising grammar rules. We’ll use real conversations, everyday situations, music, videos, news and topics that genuinely interest you.
How long does it take to learn Spanish? There’s no single answer. Some students can start having basic conversations within a few months, while reaching an advanced level naturally takes longer. What matters most is consistency, having the right guidance, and actually enjoying the process.
Whether you’re a complete beginner, preparing for an exam, planning a trip, or simply want to speak Spanish with more confidence, I’ll adapt our lessons to your level and goals.
So, if you’re ready to stop just studying Spanish and start actually speaking it, book a trial lesson with me. Let’s meet, talk about your goals, and get started. ¡See you in class!
The easiest way to learn Spanish in Taichung is to make Spanish part of your everyday life. 🇪🇸
Start with a few practical phrases and use them regularly instead of trying to memorise hundreds of words at once. Find a teacher who can guide you, practise speaking from the beginning, and connect Spanish with things you already enjoy — music, travel, food, films, sports or culture.
Living in Taichung also gives you plenty of opportunities to practise with other learners, join language-exchange activities and meet Spanish-speaking people when possible.
Most importantly, don’t wait until your Spanish is “perfect” before speaking. Make mistakes, learn from them, and keep going. With consistent practice and the right guidance, you can start communicating in Spanish much sooner than you might think! 😊
Yes! Spanish is generally considered a very accessible language to learn, especially for English speakers. It has relatively straightforward pronunciation and spelling, and once you understand the basic grammar, you can start building useful sentences quite quickly.
Of course, becoming fluent takes time and regular practice, but you don’t need to be naturally “good at languages” to learn Spanish. With the right guidance, consistent practice, and plenty of opportunities to speak, you can start communicating in Spanish from the very beginning.
And the best part? You can make mistakes along the way — that’s how you learn! 😊
