Former UN consultant and multilingual living in Melbourne

Hello all!,
my name is Oscar Ruiz and I am currently doing a Master of Sustainability in Melbourne, Australia.
I have been living abroad for nearly 9 years, in 4 different countries, and I worked for the United Nation agency for Food and Agriculture (FAO) in Rome for 5 years.

I am also a proficient translator due to the fact most of my tasks involved translating official documents and statements. In addition, I have strong communication skills, flexibility and capacity to work effectively with a diverse range of people.

As a result of my living and working abroad experiences, I can speak fluently and eloquently 3 languages (Spanish, English, and Italian), an intermediate French, and basic Portuguese. I owe this to my ability for language acquisition. In the past, I had experiences teaching English and Spanish, paying closer attention to conversational English at the workplace. Although these were volunteer experiences for my university and work respectively, I had an enormous satisfaction when teaching my mother tongue, and also sharing my experience engaging and mastering foreign languages.

My significant added value is my ability to switch seamlessly between 3 languages in the middle of conversations, and my dedicated approach to breaking down crucial topics into more uncomplicated pieces. For this reasons, I am competent to teach Italian as well as part of my programme.
