My name is Marta and I am a Master's student of Global Governance Law in the University of Helsinki. I am from Barcelona, Spain, so I have two mother tongues: Spanish and Catalan. Due to this fact, for me it was easy to learn other languages and understand which is the best way to learn it. Actually, in my country I was an extracurricular English teacher of high school students who wanted to improve its speaking skills! I also took myself English and French classes and since I moved to Finland I am learning suomi. Now, it's time to teach Spanish in an interesting and effective way! Of course, my teaching will be adapted to the wishes of the student, it's possible to do general classes/speaking or to focus on a specific field or vocabulary for the job or studies.
Finnish and Spanish have some characteristics in common: the grammar is difficult, but the alphabet and the pronunciation is really easy. So, reading and understanding can be efortless. However, it's important to focus on speaking and listening, these are the parts which will you really master Spanish. With a tutor who forces you to speak and listen, some great songs, films, series or books and will, learning Spanish is not a big deal. Trust me, finnish is far more difficult!
The easiest way is to practice regularly with one native speaker who can correct you but force you to speak. Speak is always the most difficult part of learning a language and, at the same time, the most important one. Moreover, cultural products such as films and series in Spanish are perfect to keep practising while knowing the culture.
